The Davis Chocolate Festival at the Odd Fellows Hall is Back
Mark your calendars. The Davis Chocolate Festival, organized and hosted by the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge, is back on Sunday, November 5. The event will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on both floors of the Odd Fellows Lodge, 415 2nd Street in Downtown Davis. The Chocolate Festival is open to the general public, and tickets are $10 per person. The supply of tickets is limited, however, and ticket sales begin next Sunday, October 8. Tickets may be purchased at Avid Reader Active in Downtown Davis and also at Common Grounds in South Davis. Tickets are also available online at https://2017DavisChocolateFest.Eventbrite.com.
The Davis Chocolate Festival will be a three-ring circus of chocolate. Guests will find a number of chocolate vendors offering complimentary samples of their wares, including ice cream, pastries, and good old-fashioned chocolate. Chocolate vendors include the Davis Creamery, Raffine Artisan Chocolates, Newsbeat, the Candy House of Davis, Let Them Eat Cake, Three Ladies Cafe, the Good Scoop, the Upper Crust Baking Co., and Vevey Confections.
In addition there will be complimentary coffee and hot chocolate for patrons provided by Mishkas Cafe and Common Grounds. Free chocolate demonstrations will also be available in the Lower Hall of the Lodge, and live music with popular local musical group “According to Bazooka” will be playing in the Upper Hall of the Lodge. The Lodge Hall will be decorated with historic and antique chocolate-themed art for the viewing pleasure of guests.
The Chocolate Festival will also feature a “Cookie Bake Off” which will result in the crowning of the Cookie King/Queen of Davis. Judges of this fun competition will be Mayor Robb Davis, Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor, and well-known local Chef and Baker Julie Cross. More information on how members of the public may enter the Cookie Bake Off will be provided later this month.
Available for purchase during the Fest will be a dinner featuring Chicken Mole (or Vegetarian Mole) over rice, with salad and chocolate vinaigrette dressing for $15. The dinner will be offered by our excellent Lodge Chefs Michael and Sarun. Two bars will be open with a wide selection of wine, craft beers including Sudwerk’s chocolate beer, and mixed drinks including the popular chocolate martini, and other chocolate concoctions. A bake sale table will be available with a wide assortment of chocolate cookies and cakes. And a merchandise table will also be available with chocolate art, and the coveted Chocolate Festival buttons available for purchase.
